MEET OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM
John O'Neill, President & CEO

In addition to being President and Chief Executive Office of O’Neill Hotels & Resorts, John is also Chairman and CEO of subsidiary ONE Lodging Management and President and CEO of subsidiary SunOne Developments Inc.
John held senior executive positions at Coast Hotels from 1985 to 1991, during which time he was named Canadian Hotelier of the Year by the Canadian Travel and Tourism Industry, awarded “Top Forty under Forty” recognition by Business in Vancouver magazine, and selected as a finalist for the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” award.
John and his business partner, Robert O’Neill, were co-founders of American Hotel Income Properties (AHIP) REIT in 2013 and of Canadian Hotel Income Properties (CHIP) REIT in 1997 and served on CHIP’s Board of Trustees from 1999-2002. Rob and John were also partners with Intrawest in the ownership and management of Whistler Lodging Company.
John is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Fraser Institute; a Director of the Minister’s Council on Tourism on behalf of British Columbia’s Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation; and Chair of the Collingwood School Foundation, serving a school on whose Board of Governors he used to sit. He is a past Member of the Faculty Advisory Board of the University of British Columbia (UBC) Sauder School of Business, a Member of the Tourism Whistler Board of Directors, a former Member of the Owners’ Advisory Council of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and a current member of the Board of Directors of Pure Multi-Family REIT (GP) Inc.
An active member of both the World Presidents’ Organization and the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), John served on the BC YPO Chapter’s Executive Committee for four years, culminating in his service as British Columbia Chapter Chair for YPO in 2004. John is also a frequent guest speaker, panelist and Master of Ceremonies at events such as the Canadian Hotel Investment Conference, the Western Canadian Resort Conference, and UBC’s Family Legacy Dinner (Sauder School of Business).
Robert Pratt, President, ONE Lodging Management

Robert Pratt has been a hotel industry leader for more than 30 years. He joined ONE Lodging Management in 2015 as President, assuming responsibility for the day-to-day operations of all hotel properties in the ONE family, including the 80 properties currently owned by American Hotel Income Properties (AHIP), for which ONE is the exclusive hotel manager.
Before joining ONE, Robert served as President of Coast Hotels Ltd, a collection of over 40 hotels throughout Canada and the U.S.
After graduating from Cornell University School of Hotel Administration with a Bachelor of Science, Robert spent 17 years with Westin Hotels and Resorts holding progressively senior roles in sales, marketing and hotel operations eventually serving as General Manager of Westin Hotels properties in Ottawa and Edmonton. He then joined SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts (formerly CHIP Hospitality) as the Regional Vice President of the Pacific Northwest region. He subsequently held positions as Senior Vice President of Operations and Executive Vice President at SilverBirch where he was responsible for operations of 40 hotels coast-to-coast operating under 12 franchised brands employing 4,000 staff before being appointed President and COO of SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts in 2007. From there he joined Westmont Hospitality Group in Toronto as Chief Operating Officer where he oversaw operations of 160 hotels across Canada operating under 10 franchised brands employing 10,000 people.
As a dedicated contributor to the community, Robert has held senior volunteer positions with the United Way of Ottawa, Winnipeg, and Edmonton and is active in his local church. He is a current Board member of the Hotel Association of Canada, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada and is chair of the HR committee at Destination British Columbia. He sits on the advisory committee of the University of Guelph and is an admissions field interviewer for the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. Robert was also a founding member of the Board of Directors of American Hotel Income Properties.
Bruce Pittet, SVP Operations / President Lodging Enterprises

As ONE Lodging Management’s Senior Vice President-Operations, Bruce Pittet focuses on providing operational guidance and leadership for all of ONE’s managed hotels.
With a hospitality career spanning more than 25 years, Bruce brings to ONE Lodging Management extensive repositioning and branding experience having worked with such hotel brands as Marriott, Hilton, Starwood, Choice, and Radisson. Prior to joining ONE, Bruce worked with Winding Road Development Company in Scottsdale in management and consulting capacities. Previous roles also include Regional Vice President at Intrawest Hospitality Management, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Vice President and General Manager of Snowshoe Mountain in Snowshoe, West Virginia.
Rachel Thomas, SVP Corporate Development

Rachel joined O’Neill Hotels & Resorts in May 2013 and is responsible for investments, acquisitions, dispositions, corporate development and ongoing business related matters for O’Neill Hotels & Resorts and its portfolio of companies including SunONE Developments and ONE Lodging Management.
Prior to joining O’Neill Hotels & Resorts, Rachel was an Executive Consultant with Westbank focused on enhancing profitability for their hotel portfolio. Previously, Rachel was Senior Director Business Development and Asset Management with Vancouver Airport Services (now Vantage); as well, Rachel held the position of Director of Acquisitions for Intrawest ULC, a company renowned for luxury, destination resort development, and operations around the world.
Before moving to Canada in 2004, Rachel was an Investment Banking Associate within the mergers and acquisitions group at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and prior to that an Associate with KPMG Corporate Finance both in London, UK.
Russ Friesen, SVP, Design & Construction
Location: Scottsdale AZ.
As Senior Vice President of Design & Construction, Russ is responsible for the development of new hotel projects, hotel expansions, and capital improvement renovations.
Prior to joining O’Neill Hotels & Resorts, Russ was Vice President, Construction at Intrawest, ULC, a company renowned for luxury, destination resort development around the world. Projects included resorts at Honua Kai in Hawaii, Winter Park and Copper Mountain in Colorado along with Whistler Blackcomb, Panorama and Blue Mountain in Canada. Further senior management roles included Vice President, Design & Construction at CHIP REIT Director, Design & Construction at (formerly) CP Hotels, now Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.
Mark Powell, Chief Financial Officer, ONE Lodging Management
Location: Vancouver, B.C.
As Chief Financial Officer, Mark Powell is responsible for ONE’s finance and accounting divisions, financial forecasting, analysis and reporting, as well as IT, tax and legal. As CFO, Mark works closely with senior team members to develop and implement ONE’s financial and business-development objectives and operational strategies.
Mark brings to ONE an impressive history in the real estate development and hospitality industries within private and public high-growth firms throughout Canada, the U.S. and the Caribbean. Mark’s past roles include Senior VP of Rize Alliance Properties Ltd, a well-established developer of high-rise residential and commercial real estate projects in the Greater Vancouver area, as well as CFO of T&M Management Services Ltd. While at T&M, Mark completed the IPO for Boston Pizza. Mark also served as Vice President of Finance for Ledingham McAllister Properties, a private real estate group active in residential and commercial projects, land development and assisted-living facilities.
Chris Cameron, SVP Finance & Administration

Chris Cameron joined O’Neill Hotels & Resorts in 2005 initially as Vice President, Finance and Administration before being promoted to Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration overseeing all related matters for O’Neill Hotels & Resorts and its portfolio of companies including SunONE Developments and ONE Lodging Management.
Chris is a Certified Management Accountant and is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the O’Neill Group of Companies. Chris plays an instrumental role in hotel-management-agreement negotiations, financing and banking relations, and acquisitions and development. Moreover, he has extensive experience in working with strata condo hotel structures and various ownership groups.
Prior to joining O’Neill Hotels & Resorts, Chris spent eight years as a principal in a project management company that had three successful operations in construction management, event production and labour and staffing services. Apart from overseeing the financial responsibilities for the group, Chris’s primary focus was the development and management of Nasco Staffing Services. At that time, Nasco was Canada’s largest provider of on-demand staffing to the live entertainment and production industry, with clients such as GM Place (now Rogers Arena) in Vancouver, and the Rogers Centre (Skydome) in Toronto.
Prior to O’Neill Hotels & Resorts, Chris spent a number of years with Perryscope Concert Productions, Teck Mining and Pemberton Securities.
